There are over 400 different breeds of dogs in the world, and they have been kept as pets for over 15,000 years. Dogs have an amazing sense of smell...over 100,000 times more sensitive than humans! When dogs are hot they pant (stick their tongues out) to help them cool down by circulating air through their bodies. And did you know that adult dogs have 42 teeth?!
Bunnies (or rabbits) are known for their very long ears which can be as long as 4 inches! There are over 45 different breeds of bunnies. A male rabbit is called a buck and a female rabbit is called a doe. Bunnies are herbivores and they eat vegetables, tree bark and herbs. Rabbits are social animals and live in groups called “herds” in a home called a “warren.”
A fish is a scaly skinned vertebrate that swims in water and breathes using gills. “Vertebrate” means that a fish has a skeleton with a spine. There are about 30,000 different species of fish! Fish are cold-blooded and they cannot control their own body temperature.
